    Advent

We started celebrating advent this week. I love this time of year, when we dig out all the decorations, and play Christmas music constantly. I love sitting at the table with the family, a fire glowing, and lighting the advent wreath. Then reading a passage of scripture and praying, maybe singing a few Christmas carols. Then afterward letting the little kids open the next window in the Advent calender to reveal a special treat. Yes, this is my favorite time of year. And to make it more special (and official) it snowed today, a real snow. I have started Christmas shopping this past week and am actually nearly done. I have done most of it over the internet, mainly because that is pretty much the only option we here in the North Country really have, but also because it is so much faster than trying to hunt through the mall for what you want.

In all this excitement this week I have found it enormously hard to focus on studying for finals. The Thanksgiving break really does throw me off my good habits, and now I only have a few days to regain momentum and prepare next week's exams. I have to really get down to business these next few days because the weekend is booked with several Christmas parties, and my 18th birthday! It will be nice to see this semester ended, but also slightly sad knowing that my wonderful days with all my friends here are almost over. Time goes so fast, we have such precious little time to do things. I wish to take advantage of every opportunity and not let a single moment escape. It has been an adventure so far, we'll see were it goes next.

  • Starting School

So for those of you who have not heard, I am at The Clarkson School, a part of Clarkson University, this fall. I am really excited and even more nervous about all that lies ahead. I am getting to know my fellow students and am having a great time participating in orientation events. They keep us pretty busy and even more well feed. There have already been so many dinners, BBQs, and ice cream socials. I have meet my math teacher and two of my business teachers and they are all really nice. Classes start on Monday. I still don't have my math book because it is back ordered. This is the largest incoming freshman class this University has ever seen. 730's I think. ( including Schoolies)
I like my schedule and can't wait for the year to start.

  • 30 Hour Famine

I am doing the 30 Hour Famine on April 18th and 19th. We will go without food for 30 hours to raise support for starving kids in 3rd world countries around the world. Everyday 29,000 kids die because of starvation, poverty, and disease. Through the 30 Hour Famine we hope to change this. I ask anyone feeling called to support me in this endeavor. For just $1 a day a child can be fed and cared for. In addition to meeting physical needs we will also be providing for the children to receive spiritual nourishment. Please pray about joining me both in prayer and financially. Thank You.
